Writing Your Life Story – Carbon’s four step process: Part four - Reflect

Carbon like to do things differently, our principle is not to endlessly grow your wealth, but instead to use your money to help you live a happy and fulfilling life, spending it on the things that really matter to you.

We do this by first understanding the lifestyle that you want to live; help quantify the cost of this lifestyle; set and maintain the path to achieving this; finally, and most importantly, make sure you spend and enjoy your wealth. To help our clients on this journey we use our four-step process.

Carbon’s four-step process:

Chapter One Visualise - help you to visualise a deeply personal life narrative that excites and inspires you, your life story.

Chapter Two Build - build a plan to show you how to achieve the financial future that you are dreaming of.

Chapter Three Realise - Activate all elements of your plan and give you the freedom to live your life story.

Chapter Four Reflect - Your story will evolve over time, as a partner for life, we regularly review your plan to ensure you remain on track.

This week we will focus on Chapter four: Reflect

Reflect allows us to regularly check in with you to ensure you remain on track. As a partner for life, we pride ourselves on our long-term client relationships.

We want to understand how you would like to deal with us going forward so that we tailor our service to your wishes, from virtual or in person meetings to frequency and content of these catch ups. Our planners focus on your plan, your story will evolve so it is important that we revisit this regularly. This may be a requirement to update your plan with changes to your circumstances or to reflect new regulations, assumptions, or tax rules.

Our financial coaching will help to ensure you get the most out of your plan, we can help you to spend more on the things that make you happy. We will hold your hand when, invariably, assumptions within the plan don’t reflect the current situation, from investment performance to inflation figures. Our clients tend not to make some of the common mistakes that occur when too much focus is put on short-term issues, using our planners as a sounding board during these times to ensure that the bigger picture is kept front of mind.

We are proud to have fostered some of the longest client relationships in the industry through our deeply personal ongoing service. Regular reflection, coaching and amendments helps ensure you remain on track. Our clients tell us that the personal relationship with their planner is the most valuable part of their relationship with Carbon and this is something we feel is deeply important when building and maintaining trust with clients.
