Carbon supports the Bill McLaren Voice of Rugby Dinner

Carbon was once again delighted to support The Bill McLaren Voice of Rugby Dinner at Prestonfield House on 9 February 2024.

A crowd of over 300 were entertained by speakers Bob Skinstad and Jacques Nienaber from the world's most successful rugby nation South Africa, singer Vicki Robertson and MC for the evening Rory Lawson.

Auctioneer for the evening was Alex Fleming who assisted along with the Silent Auction lots in raising £50,000 at the event.

In her welcome Linda Lawson talked about the charity’s main area of support, the areas where the over £1.5million given to date have been allocated and the encouragement given to young people to develop life skills predominantly through playing rugby. Bill McLaren as a teacher believed that our great sport of rugby engages with youngsters of all shapes and sizes and teaches them the importance of discipline, preparation, respect, friendship, courage, fitness and the importance of being part of a team.

Nohara Chinguwo from Bhubesi Pride Foundation (BPF) which is one of the organisations the Foundation consistently supports in Africa shared with the audience his experience and the impact rugby /netball has had on boys and girls in their new complex in Lilongwe in Malawi. To date The Foundation has given over £100,000 in grants to BPF.
