Carbon goes the extra mile: Hairy Haggis Relay recap

On Sunday 25th May, members of the Carbon team took on the challenge of the Hairy Haggis Relay, part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. The relay spans the full marathon distance, divided into four legs, each presenting its own unique challenges. We were proud to field two determined teams, running in support of Cancer Research UK and in memory of our much-missed colleague, Julie.

The day kicked off with a mix of excitement and nerves. Conditions were tough, with moody skies, strong winds, and sudden downpours, making for a hard-fought race battling the elements. But these proved to be mere inconveniences for our runners, who were driven by excitement and the deeper meaning behind the run. Each team member demonstrated amazing resilience and rose to the challenge.

Each runner took on their leg of the relay and gave it their absolute all from start to finish, delivering brilliant performances and clocking some impressive times. Spirit was high, driven by the incredible atmosphere and support along the course. A special shout-out goes to John Bell, who went above and beyond, running 9 miles just to reach his start point, and then delivering a superb final leg to bring his team home. A true display of grit and determination!

We’re incredibly proud to share that together, we have raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK. It’s a small way to honour Julie’s memory and contribute to a cause that means so much to so many.
