Carbon Social Cycle Club Event 2 - Deeside Royal Rides - 20 June 2015

The second Carbon Social Cycle Club ride of the year, on the morning of 20 June, heads north to beautiful Royal Deeside and offers both a gentle meander and a more challenging ride. We hope you can join us for one of the two routes, both of which will start at Aboyne.

The Gentle Run – 11 miles each way For both routes we will initially follow the ‘Deeside Way’ from Aboyne to Ballater, a distance of 11 miles along more-or-less flat cycle paths. If you are looking for a gentle ride, having cycled the 11 miles to Ballater you can then pull into one of the many cafes, and retrace your steps back to Aboyne at your leisure.

This link provides a bit more information about the route (NB the page is designed for walkers rather than cyclists). CarbonCycleMountain

The Full Route – 50 mile loop If you are seeking more of a challenge, from Ballater we will head west, but almost immediately turn north climbing over towards Corgarff. After a short detour to the Goodbrand & Ross tearoom for a coffee and cake injection, we will head along the Don before turning south again and heading back to Aboyne via Tarland. The route and profile (for the profile click on the button towards the top of the window which opens) can be found here.

Are you able to join us? To help us plan, please let one of us (Stephen or Richard) know if you would like to come along, and whether you intend cycling the gentle run or the full route. For those travelling from further afield, there are a number of hotels and B&Bs nearby for the night before which can be found here. We will confirm final details nearer the date, but if you have any queries, please contact us.

Best wishes, Stephen and Richard
