Carbon MD accepts new role as Personal Finance Society Director

Carbon MD, Gordon Wilson, has been appointed as a director of the professional body for the UK financial planning profession, the Personal Finance Society (PFS). The appointment took effect from 18^th September and will mean Gordon will be spending more time in London.

The mission of the PFS ‘is to lead the financial planning community towards higher levels of professionalism, exhibited through ethical and behavioural standards, skill and technical knowledge to the ultimate benefit of the profession and the consumer alike’. There are currently 36,000 members, 5,000 of whom are Chartered Financial Planners.

Commenting on his appointment, Gordon said, ‘becoming a director of the PFS is one of the highlights of my career. I feel passionately about the importance of having high standards, and about having the right skills and knowledge so we can do the best job for our clients. At Carbon our core values are ‘to do the right thing’ and ‘to be the best we can be’. The work of the PFS is therefore closely aligned with how we run our business. There is, however, some work to be done before the financial advice profession is respected in the same way that lawyers and accountants are, and this role gives me the opportunity to contribute and be part of this journey’.
