A Carbon Fivers team from Carbon Financial Partners will cycle 500 gruelling miles in five days to raise £50,000 for Winning Scotland Foundation

Winning Scotland Foundation works to create a culture where all young people in Scotland have the opportunity to develop themselves and learn important life skills.

“Winning Scotland Foundation sets out to help young people in Scotland ‘achieve their personal best’ in whatever they set their mind to. Positively reinforcing what young people do well, helping them to learn from mistakes and to develop a growth mind-set will help to build confidence and to develop essential life skills such as resilience, self-belief and determination which they can use in their everyday lives.”

Gordon Wilson – MD Carbon Financial Partners

The team will be receiving support and advice from five of Scotland’s most famous athletes who work with the charity as role models in schools.

Guinness world record holder Mark Beaumount, world champion triathlete Catriona Morrison MBE, mountain biker Ruaridh Cunningham and cyclists Charline Joiner and Fiona Duncan are supporting the £50,000 fundraising effort for the charity.

The charity’s’ role models will provide advice, support and encouragement to the Carbon Fivers team cycling the Highland 500. It’s a mountainous route around the North of Scotland that will require a total climb of 33,500 feet from the riders.

“The route is very demanding physically, however with the support from the charity’s champions, we will be prepared to the best level we can be.”

Richard Wadsworth – Lead rider Carbon Fivers

The Carbon Fivers campaign marks the company’s fifth anniversary. Catriona Morrison and Charline Joiner represented the charity by joining the official launch of the fundraising campaign at Gracemount Primary School on 14th of June.

“I am delighted to be supporting the fundraising challenge. I will be on hand to provide advice and motivation to the team ahead of their ride. It will be a gruelling cycle but ultimately the end goal will be finishing and handing the money to a fantastic charity. Winning Scotland Foundation has already established projects which are benefiting children around the country, the funds raised will allow these to be extended to reach more young people.”

Catriona Morrison – World Champion Triathlete

The Carbon Fivers team will start the Highland 500 Fundraising Challenge from Inverness on 29th of August and will finish back at Inverness on 2nd September.
