Specialism:

Providing investment advice to pre- and post-retirement clients. Having specialised in this area for many years, James understands clients’ issues and concerns at this crucial milestone in life.

Why my job's important:

“With money issues often making the news, it’s easy for clients to be bombarded with too much information. I see my role as separating the wheat from the chaff to give clear, straightforward, no-nonsense advice that really adds value.”

Career history:

James has worked in financial services for more than 30 years. He has held a variety of posts at Clydesdale Bank, Alliance & Leicester and Frizzell, where he worked alongside Carbon’s managing director, Gordon Wilson. He then ran his own independent financial advice practice for ten years, before joining forces with Gordon in 2008.

Top financial planning tip:

“In life, common sense goes a long way. The same can be applied to investing over the long-term.”

Favourite book:

"For Crying Out Loud" by Jeremy Clarkson – a voice of reason in a world of political correctness
