Congratulations to Mark and his associates who succesfully completed the Carbon Golf Challenge on 22nd – 23rd June.
They started out at 3.45am (in the rain!) and they came close to having to call a halt to proceedings when the weather conditions worsened considerably. Through a little charm and persuasion, they convinced the greenkeeper to allow them to continue, despite the course then closing to the public.
After completing the Lynedoch, they headed off to the Inch, where they were told the Island had also been closed. They were also informed that the Inch had been restricted to nine holes due to flooding. Not about to let anything to deter them, the intrepid golfers took the decision to complete the available nine holes four times, to make up the numbers.
As Craigie Hill had escaped the worst of the flooding, they were able to continue on to that course at 10.15pm, battling through their aches and pains.
So far, the team has raised a fantastic £4,200, with the expectation that this will rise even further by the time the last few donations have been received. Should you wish to donate, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/PerthCityGolfChallenge. The money raised is going to three brilliant charities: CHAS, PKAVS and the Cornhill Macmillan Centre.
